Re: Theta Digital David DVD-CD Transport

I agree with Rich's comments. The Theta isn't worth it given the small (if any) difference in video or audio quality. I ended up with the Denon 5000 and I recommend a listen/look at it as well as a dvd/cd combo and it is 1/2 the price of the Theta. I hear that CAL has a combo transport as well in the mid 2000 range but I'm not sure on that one.

I've compared the Theta DaViD, Pioneer 09, Meridian DVD and Denon and I decided it was up to the Pioneer or Denon because for video there was NO difference (this was on a 10 ft stewart screen with a 2-chip DLP projector) and the audio was about the same for all units (I liked the Denon just a bit more for clarity and openness, but this might just be the usual audiophile...gee, I think it is better). Regardless, the Theta and Meridian are just not worth the extra and I'm a Meridian fan (I have a 565/562V combo for my HT).
