Comparisons to RCA RT2500 HT system?

For the time being, I am considering purchasing the $400 RCA RT2500 "home theater in a box" sound system available at Radio Shack. I plan to upgrade later.

I am curious if any of you think I can get better quality for the same price (or slightly higher, say $500 total)?
Myself, I have not been able to find anything that comes close to this price with the same amount of power (I know, I know...700 watts w/o specs can be misleading...so tell me what you recommend otherwise!)
