These are brands from the mother campany that is supporting DVD-Audio as the new high-resolution audio format--while Sony supports SACD. In an effort to get hardware into that market that supports DVD-A, they're slashing prices. Understand that these decks are fine DVD-Video players, even if you're not interested in high-rez audio. Brands like those you mention in your post will most likely burn out within a year or two, so how "cheap" is that?
