Yes, you will see significant improvements. While there are many models available, if you are willing to spend $500 it's hard to go wrong with the Panasonic RP-91. It's picture is about as good as you can get without spending over $2,000. The Denon 2800 has been buggy and the subject of numerous firmware updates. The PR-56 Panny lacks scaling features the RP-91 possesses and the Philips Q50 has had its share of problems and firmware fixes too. Check the following link. Search their site for recommended or best players and you will find a wealth of information.joe
