DVD Sony 9000ES

The 9000 ES is built like a tank. However newer progressive scan players with improved chip technology are like empty beer cans. Yet, they are reviewed as being able to produce better sound and picture. Even the Krell DVD player is a lighweight compared to to 9000ES. The new Sony 900P DVD player is also a lighweight but is said to give much better picture than the 9000ES and offers has the benefits of five channel SACD. I have been patiently waiting to purchase a progressive scan player to be used with my Sony 40" KV-40XBR700 TV. I currently have a Pioneer 09 and it is certainly okay. I am willing to pay $2500-3000 for a player. SACD would be great but not necessary. Should I continue to wait? Appreciate some suggestions. Thanks.
