MCM Volume Control for TV Sound
Posted by Mel on August 21, 2018 at 20:58:03:
I saw this device mentioned in an old post. So after my old sound-bar died, and after I tried, and returned, a $150 Vizio that has got a lot of press but which I thought was awful I looked for a temporary solution. I tried an old computer speaker system that I wasn't using, a Logitech. so I laid the tweeter/midranges on their side and plugged the woofer (such as it is) into the TV. For this TV I don't require much, but I was surprised at how good it sounds. Problem was no remote for volume/mute.
So I sent for the $40 MCM unit and it works perfectly adding no sound that I can hear. Best part is that it's in my Harmony remote's data base.
The negative is that there is no on-off for power, not even a physical switch on the MCM. So I leave it on, 2 watts + whatever the speakers use.
Perhaps this will help someone.
