It´s a pity you can´t read Spanish, as there´s an excellent book "Cocinar hizo al Hombre" ("Cooking made Man"), by Faustino Cordon, a professor in Biochemistry and an ardent evolutionist, which is simply fascinating: in it he explains how cooking paved the way to make man a more intelligent species.

If I ever find it translated, I´ll remind you about it.
