Actually, Rotten tomatoes had it a 60% positive, just what I expected. The ending had Hidalgo winning the race, then Hopkins bought the herd of Mustangs with his winnings from the US government before they destroyed it. He let the herd run free on the plains and unbridled Hidalgo to run with them, it was rather touching. Sorry you missed it.

I just looked at the Rotten Tomatoes web site and it shows 57% positive and 56% negaative. Hardly a sweep.
I'm not soirry I missed it. At the time I was at one of our many Cape Cod Bay beaches watching the sunset. A far better show.
