Four stars, I don't know....but since I read the book, I had to see the film. It is a docu-drama based on the book "Touching The Void" authored by Joe Simpson, who also narrated along with his climbing partner Simon Yates featuring a couple of different climbers acting out the story line. The climbers/actors did a fairly good job of acting, really. The climbing sequences are very authentic. I'm not sure if they climbed the real Siula Grande in this re-enactment, but it was a true Alpine style ascent. I can't really say I enjoyed the book more (which is the usual case with adaptations) due to the marvelous climbing sequences in the film. Go see it if you love outdoor adventure.
