FWIW, I think most of the film versions of Thomas Harris' books (Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, even Black Sunday) do a reasonably good job of following the story line and intent of the book...Hanibal is one of those films I should have mentioned that the film improved upon (at least the ending was better!), imo.

Of course, it's been some time since I read the books...so I could be completely wrong!
