"With that in mind, I would like to mention here an interesting statement by Andrey Tarkovsky, in the chapter of his book devoted to Luis Bunuel. Tarkovsky had deep admiration for Spanish director.
Says he:"'Bunuel has enough artistic sense, to avoid falling into the trap of political pathos, something that is never appropriate, when stated directly in works of art'
I suspect an artist like Arthur Miller would disagree with him. I would tend to side with Arthur Miller. It seems silly to limmit the scope of artists this way.
