Go-Joe: Japanese stylish samurai/supernatural
Sorekara: (And Then) Japanese, based on the Natsume Soseki novel, one of Yusaku Matsudas last films (Japans James Dean)
Shuri: Korean thriller, the same director did "JSA", Joint Security Area, which was also a major hit in Japan and also a very good film
anything/everything by Won Kar Wai (HK) esp. Fallen Angels, Chungking Express, Happy Together
almost everything by Akira Kurosawa, esp. Ran, Kagemusha but avoid Dreams(!)
anything/everything by Juzo Itami (Japan) esp. Marusa no Onna, (Woman Lawyer) Tampopo, (Sunflower), O-soshiki (The Funeral), Daibyoonin (The Terminal Patient)
anything/everything by Satyajit Ray (India) but esp. The Stranger or Pather Panchali which is a great Asian classic and as far from Bollywood or Hollywood as you could get...
