The marketing of the movie and the "marketing part" of the story should have been left on the cutting room floor. It would have been a far more interesting story if the true phenomenon had been known early on in the movie. A lot more lasting drama could have been created and sustained by how an innovative mind meets with outside opposition as well as the self destructive madness that often accompanies brilliance.

Instead, it's a cheap mystery that isn't worth watching again because the mystery has already been explained.
