i had orignally passed on this as well because it looked corny and because of the star. after hearing buzz and recommendations from friends, i rented it. i got sucked in immediately -- i put it on at bedtime thinking i'd watch ten or fifteen minutes and wound up watching the whole thing fighting sleep. it's like a ray bradbury novel, simple and cheap but effective and addictive.
