your conclusions are (of course) your own. That they agree in some fashion with my own is not material. But I am happy you agree about Mitchum. He was Hollywood's most natural actor of the time, beloved of directors and underrated by the public.

Many an actor and actress has voiced the tale that (when engaged in conversation with Mitchum's character) they would simply forget where they were and begin to converse. Fortunately, most directors considered such moments as a gift from the Gods and kept them.

Sorely, very sorely missed. As are Peck, Hermann, et al.
