there's a particular oddness to the way david mamet has his characters talk - in an off way that suggests they're strategizing something or hiding information. it's like the train scene between janet leigh and frank sinatra in the manchurian candidate. i think a viewer either finds it really intruiging or just goes "huh?"when val kilmer goes into the interrogation room and pretends to be a secert service guy to force a lie out of the guy being interrogated, i was hooked on the film. mamet moves this scene so quickly that you may have missed the gamemanship between all the characters. i like that gamesmanship in mamet's films. have you liked other david mamet films?
