The ending is horrible. I watched it while on a business trip to Korea, in the theatre people were laughing out loud. I think the movie started out fine, but at the end it was completely screwed up, I am surprised that Zhang YiMou did such a poor job.

I didn't really care for the ending either, though my wife did. Still, I think overall it was a good movie-for the cinimatography if nothing else.
