I saw this film many moons ago. I recall it being pleasant, but not one that stuck with me for long.

That is correct, that is why I gave it a very cautious "not a bad film" verdict.
If watched all by itself, in a vacuum, it doesn't irritate one bit. But when you put something like Il Posto right next to it - like I did - you immediately realize the great difference in their quality.
