I think that points does come across fairly clearly, he does see the industry and capitalism as dehumanizing - and shows it that way, much more so in the Il Posto - the dreary room full of grey lifers locked in, what an awful prospect for the rest of your life! And a dream, at the same time - the dream of lifetime employment!

I think it is incredible how those small and short works can actually tell us that much, and just ho they go about it.
