That is a heluva good film, Victor. I love it.British gangster films seem to have taken on an unusual quality in recent years - it's like they've run their course with showing you violence and now explore it sideways.
I recently watched I'll Sleep When I'm Dead with Clive Owen (and directed by the same guy who did an earlier effort of his, Croupier). Owen plays a former gangster, so his performance is low-key and doesn't reach that bad ass, Samuel L. Jackson burning point. It's an interesting film that seems to focus more on the space between the lines.
Have you seen the Sopranos? I'm not much for TV but that was a very good series. I watched the first two seasons and have only recently seen the later seasons on DVD (through netflix). It builds up characters slowly in a way that you can't in one movie and has very good drama as things come back from earlier actions to give the characters their comeuppance.

One of these days I gotta get myself organizized.
Follow Ups:
Bob Hoskins is great in this as a travelling sheet music salesman during the Depression(not a film, but a TV series)
Potters story is presented in a most unique and unusual fashion, I won't say anything more to spoil the fun!
Grins
He always has beautiful presence, so even the silly things like the Mona Lisa become a treat. It would be a complete failure without him. His being dressed was a riot.
