When we first see Glenn Close in this "Play Misty for Me" story she is made up to look like Bride of Frankenstein, which after a weekend fling with married Michael Douglas she turns out to be. Director Adrian Lyne changed the original ending of F/A to emphasize the family's recovery after their ordeal occasioned by Close. Anne Archer plays the cheated upon wife. The relationship with Douglas' male lawyer friend has never worked for me (the "chemistry" seems forced).
Follow Ups:
Anne Archer is a babe in my book though, so this movie is great! On a more serious note, this movie worked for me on a couple dfferent levels. Am I the only one who laughed hysterically at the fight scene in her apartment? It was over the top, but it was SUPPOSED to be which made it so much fun. Also liked some of the downright creepy directing(the cooked rabbit sequence). Maybe it's a guilty pleasure, but i've never seen a Michael Douglas movie I didn't like(I really can't explain why either). In the recent genre, this movie(and Basic Instinct) did for romantic thrillers what Die Hard did for action movies. Been a little while since i've sat down and watched the whole thing but I don't recall much about the lawyer friend thing, so maybe that aspect speaks for itself.
