The BBC Radio series remains the best production of Douglas Adams' masterpiece. It's closest to the moods of the book and, IMHO, often screamingly funny. The TV series (with Eric Idle) is also quite a delight. I really have enjoyed it each time I've seen the entire run.
Douglas Adams had written some of the new material that's in the movie but, alas, he died before production started on the film. I think he would be disappointed by the end result - mainly because of the ham-fisted direction and the fact that the ultimate script writer AND editors seem to have liitle knowledge of Adams' bizarre universe.
