Tons of Hollywood and Broadway bigwigs are featured in this study of a Manhattan Stage Door Canteen, one of many set up to entertain servicemen away from home during WW II. The story focuses on three army GIs who are about to be shipped out and the women they meet at the Canteen. As the plot progresses, it is frequnetly interupted by one of the stars or big nands doing their shtick. There's lots of patriotism and homages to Russian and Chinese allies. Dated and innocent but a long time favorite of mine. There's a wondeful song here called "Never Say Goodbye" that stays with me for days every time I see this.
