Bancroft I re-watch 84 Charing Croos Road.
A very calm film, for people like you & me who loves books. Anthony Hopkins taking the half of the screen, if I may say so, while Anne Bankroft, the other half.
With a totally underexposed, helas, Judy Dench!What would be our life if we did not, from accident to accident, not meet persons, perfect strangers, who smile suddendly at us, and shares their love & friendship with us, and we, with them?
Nothing but just money & noises & emptyness and a so huge ego.
All in vain.

and the balance of screen presence is "50/50" between the protagonists, without any inch nor quarter given to any other actor in the movie
What a shame that I felt the film was dated on it's release; more a fault of the lack of politeness and empathy in society than the film itself
