In Reply to: Help with VCR multi-system tuning. posted by Balou1963 on December 01, 2002 at 20:36:36:
Odd problem... If I understand, you can't run your antenna wire into your VCR & get a signal, correct? I would check all the wire & connections to make sure they are clean and there are no broken wires. Then check all the settings on the VCR, you may need to switch it to antenna or "air" to get a signal.
Follow Ups:
Indeed. odd problem. I have now partially solved the problem by running the signal (and tuning through the TV) then using a SCART cable to the AV receiver.
No matter how I try (and I have tried four times now) and I simply cannot get a signal through the VCR. I do remember when I lived in the US that I bought a multi-system TV which allowed you to change channel settings manually (there was a choice of 4, 5.5 and 6...would that be Hz or KHz??) By switching for one to the other I was able to get a perfect picture in the US. I think I have run into the opposite problem here in China. The TV is set for Europe with no way to manually change to a different setting for Asia.Does this sound plausible?
Yes it does. There are several systems worldwide:NTSC- covers North America & Japan
PAL- covers most of Europe Except France
SECAM - France and most the rest of the world. Secam also comes in different verisions. The question is what is used in China? You may need a vcr made for China.
