I think every serious movie lover must look at that work. You may not be able to finish it - we bailed out after 9... but the haunting images shall stay with you.
The emotional impact of the first ones is incredibly strong, but after that they get repetitious, the sharpness wears off, and there is no real development.
It almost looks like he should have put it into a blazing 20-minutes format.
So overall I do have my reservations, but I also still claim that it is a must for a movie buff. You may or may not like it, but I doubt it will leave you emotionless.
Follow Ups:
"After they get repetitious, the sharpness wears off..."
Is it "pure art" then?
This is just a mild push back from me as I haven't seen the film.
But I think you've hit on the conundrum for many directors...if not all artists.
