I read that Black Klansman won awards. I like several Spike Lee films. In Do the Right Thing racism is one of the main plot lines and it is accurately portrayed
Spoiler alert: I had heard the basis of the story was a black man infiltrating the klan. Not really. Just via the phone.
As you all know I'm socially liberal I'm even an active member of my local NAACP chapter.
I have to say the script kinda sucked. The klansmen dialog should have been researched better. There's so much wrong. No point in citing individual items.
I feel like the film won awards for what it attempted to do, not what it actually did.
When I compare this to a film like Mississippi Burning there is no comparison.
Spoiler Alert #2 - the end is great however as graphic footage of Charlottesville was shown to prove the point we really haven't moved that far forward and that hate still abounds.

Follow Ups:
Seems any controversy over it was just... controversy for the sake of it.
Spike Lee has made some good films and plenty of bad ones.
It sure as shit doesn't matter WHAT your political direction is: boring is unforgivable.
What a great, interesting, TRUE story he mucked up.
