I wonder how accurate it is? A uncle served in the US Army and fought in the trenches in France. They were always dirty often wet and there was a lot of disease and suffering due to the conditions. Dysentery and foot rot were common.

an acknowledgment given to a WWI veteran relative for all his accounts. I presume much of the film are his stories stitched together.
Grab a copy of 'They Shall Not Grow Old' in order to contrast all WWI movies. '1917' is Disney compared to the real thing.
