A murder takes place at the cultural intersection of Wind River Indian Reservation life (Shoshone-Arapahoe) in Wyoming, and the coexisting oil patch development. It's also an interface between Renner, a white guy tracking for the USFWS, his native kin, and a non-resident FBI agent (Olson).
Subtle and clever detective work by Renner and Olson pursuing the killers. The nuances of emotion are well acted; no cliches' about Native American culture
The movie feels tight, not wasting rhetoric or time, but also not rushed. A great film.
