squeamish stomach. There's a reason this serial killer film was banned throughout Europe upon its '83 release. The lead actor "playing" the psycho is the same guy who was so mild-mannered as the head engineer in "Das Boot." This is a complete turnaround: it makes "American Psycho" seem like a sitcom. Same with, "Funny Games:" another laugh fest, comparatively.
Normally, I'd not have watched it, but I didn't do any research and had no idea regarding the violence fest I was to undergo. On the positive side, the film is original, with fascinating music, editing, and cinematography.
After viewing, I was relieved to find out (okay, that sounds a little strange...) that it was closely based on real life crimes of serial killer Werner Kniesek. "Relieved" because it would be bizarre for anyone to make up a story this cruel and intense...
