I guess that's why he put his name in the title. The subject is clearly in Ridley's lane. But Guy did a good job of making a war film with most of the lead roles played by Americans and not Brits (a'la Blackhawk).
The story is about an American sergeant in Afghanistan that picks up an interpreter that later saves his life by successfully struggling to get him back to safety. The film does have a patriotic beat to it as Gyllenhall recoups in the USA and eventually goes back to rescue the interpreter.
The stand out of the film is Dar Salim who definitely deserves a "nom" for
"Best Supporting". Dar is the Star.
