Hmmmm.
I'm supplying a link to a review of Apocalypto in which the reviewer reveals his identity foundation/prejudices early on but does not let said issues colour the critical thinking and insightful reasoning he brings to his review.

...the writer slips into the common fallacy of criticisiing a work of art for not being what he wants it to be, rather than what the creator intended: "...with the hope that the audience will be satisfied with the story of a family man who wants to get home." Well geez Luiz, that's the story! The film was engagingly picaresque, in the sense of "episodes that depict, in realistic detail, the everyday life of the common people."
