From Paul Shrader and starring Woody Harrelson as a highly camp society "walker" of rich women and a part time estate agent (?) who apparently has connections with and entry to the higher echelons of Washington society, this is one of the worst films I have seen in a long time.
Harrelson starts with his cheeks padded to imitate Brando in The Godfather and finishes carrying a cat like Blowfeldt in a bad 70s Bond film.
In between someone is murdered and a woman panics to reclaim a photo of someone with their hand on her shoulder.
There is an attempted wit around the script that might cut it with anyone who thought Pretty Woman was dialogue dense and witty.
A less substantial film I find hard to imagine as scene after scene staggers past under the weight of Shrader's gay stereotypes and the total lack of anything like an interesting character.
And who wears those ridiculous double breasted suits? Did they actually have fittings for them?
Lauren Bacall finishes up in a bizarre imitation of Lou Reed complete with leather jacket and I am wordless at how this has actually reached the screen.
It would have been far preferable to have shot Paul Shrader instead of the film.
