Is this performance quality universally characteristic of Criterion remasters?
(I have Criterion's "Seven Samurai" DVD set, and am most pleased -- 26" Sharp lcd/dvd.)
Follow Ups:
Depends on the source, of course, but they take their time and try to obtain the best elements for mastering they can.
Criterions are outshone in a few rare instances by selected imports. But you will then need a region free player that converts PAL> NTSC to take advantage.
You can always check at dvdbeaver.com for comparisons.
But You might not notice on a screen as small as your anyway. I find Criterions are usually a safe bet and the bonus material is superb.
