Don't forget Nicholson as the devil in "Eastwick". I think Jack's mono-dimensionalism saves him from his parts. He's pretty much Jack-o no matter what he does..

more of a "personality" than a true actor....a real actor gets into the "soul" of the character and embodies it in a way that makes you forget that you are watching that person portray a character....A few people that have been able to do that for me are Tracy, DeNiro and Day-Lewis all with some consistency....As an example...Day-Lewis in Gangs Of New York.....the first time I saw that film....I totally forgot who was playing the role....I hated that character soooo much I clapped when he ultimately died...Such is the effect of an actor's ability to lose himself in the role and make you "feel" the emotions associated with it......
