rating it superior to "Citizen Kane."
Well....it is a riveting portrayal, very documentary-like, of a man mysteriously addicted to the power of guns and the woman trick-shooter that bursts into his life. The pair seemingly are meant for each other and before you can say, "stick 'em up!" they have taken off on a cross- country violence-filled crime spree.
Eschewing the complex relationships, plot twists and subplots of its much later and slicker spawn, "Bonnie and Clyde," this film closely examines the doomed and all-consuming love of two people who haven't the skill or the patience to earn their dreams.
The casting was brilliant and, if you're a fan of American film, you'll recognize the two leads but perhaps take some time to figure out from which other films.
Follow Ups:
The director of "Gun Crazy" Joseph H. Lewis did another terrific noir, "The Big Combo". This guy is way underated as a director.
Thanks! It's in my queue.
