...this is an MGM (Classic potboiler as far as I'm concerned.) feature, from 1931, directed by Clarence Brown, with Gable, L. Barrymore, Leslie Howard, N. Shearer and James Gleason, that really surprised me with its modern storyline, and electric performances. I didn't expect this film-being a relatively early talkie-to be so affecting. I have to say that I've rarely seen Clark Gable better. Norma was a little "stagey" with her performance, but not enough to wreck the whole movie. It's beautifully photographed, well edited, just a fun experience. The Forbidden Hollywood sets are really interesting, with part 2 just released this week. I'm gonna buy it. Sorry for the long ramble.

I started punching in "record" commands on DVR for the rest of the night. Those old pre-code movies are a real hoot.
