...Thirteen Days, The Bounty, thriller No Way Out, and especially the early 70's efforts from this kiwi director: Smash Palace and Sleeping Dogs. The latter marked the screen debut of Sam Neill. These last two more or less put NZ movies on the map.
Donaldson has also done some pay for hire movies that while competent should be avoided - The Recruit, Cocktail, Species and Dante's Peak.
But when he's good, Donaldson is very good.

Donaldson is a New Zealander and did a TV documentary on the Worlds Fastest Indian in the 1970's.... Smash Palace is v. salvageable

That's why I called him a kiwi.
Smash Palace was probably the first NZ film that registered in my consciousness.
Interesting that it took him so many years to get back to subject of WFI.
