This year's big hit German film (at least at the Brisbane German Film Festival) and about to open generally, The Counterfeiters is the story of an expert forger arrested at the start of WW2 and processed through the concentration camps, finally needed by the Nazis to help with an attempt to flood the British and American economies with dodgy currency.
Set mainly in a concentration camp this film is oppressive and enclosed within the secret inner sanctum of the top secret project and the feelings of the men whose only means of staying alive is to assist the hated Nazis.
Some scenes are genuinely moving, some funny, gallows humour style.
There is a lot of close up acting, all faces and expressions.
A very worthwhile ticket.
I just had time after Paris to walk out and then walk stragiht back in to the same cinema and get the same seat.
