or the movie at all. We can''t "spoil" but it just took too long to develop. There is something about the Russian mind that operates in slow motion that necessitates a thousand pages to tell a story or three hours to produce a forty-five minute film.

mistake in either country.
I thought the film spent as little time as necessary to build to the shocking premise. Without those introductory scenes of the young guy's dreary job, his incapacitated brother, and their poverty, the rest wouldn't have made much sense. When one comes from a country with a long history of civil war, random murder, and regular carnage, the film's drama is much more understandable.
And... it just may be an allegory of Georgian life, too.
