..."Buddy Buddy", the one Billy Wilder did in 1981.
As youīll see, he even had Francis Veber writing the script..., but that film was lacking any grace, not to mention the freshness of the original: Jacques Brel sobbing, wiping the windshield with that sticky, blandy little creature hanging from the rear mirror, and then his nose (or was it the other way round? - I saw it more than thirty years ago...-) was simply moving, beyond the incredible comicality of it; while Jack Lemmon was simply irritating from the start: not even Walter Matthau could save that film!
"No la toqueis más, que así es la rosa" (Touch it no more, for thatīs how a rose is) said Juan Ramon Jimenez..., and wise words those were.
