tinear,
I'm also a big fan of Mr. Hulot and Mr. Bean makes a strong resemblance except Mr. Bean has an alienated and sometimes malevolent quality whereas Mr. Hulot is gentle, social, and polite.
It's interesting that a number of British comedians of Atkinson's generation- Atkinson and about all Monty Python I think, went to Oxford- Oscar Wilde too,..
I really enjoyed Atkinson in the "Mr. Bean" and the "Blackadder" TV series, however, his movies seem really miscalculated. Like Robin Williams, he's more entertaining in short bursts.
By the way, today, January 6, is Atkinson's birthday- 54. He races Aston Martins and is supposed to be worth £100,000,000- that's the true power of laughter!
Cheers,
Bambi B

Mr. bean is plainly NASTY, while Hulot never is.
The mimic may bear some ressemblance but that is it.
And yes he is a real fan of speedy cars, he got a lot of them.
so infamous was he that after his death the name of Oscar wasn't recorded on a birth certificate for 80 years.
