... but it trades this for what seem like foreign concepts in most of today's movies: character development, plots, etc.

This cynical dude doubts it'll get much Academy Award buzz.

Gran Torino was the box office champ this weekend.

More importantly, AMPAS really (I mean really) likes Clint.

He's said that this is his last leading role, but I hope not. Eastwood can be quite effective with the right material, and it appears he's firing on all cylinders in this one.
