Picnic at Hanging Rock (alien abduction anyone?)
Slaughterhouse Five

I considered "The Man Who Fell to Earth", "12 Monkeys", "Gattaca" and the remake of "Solaris" for my list, and they could replace any of the above that might not be real science fiction.
