I knew the excellent US film with great actors, but this one is just one not to be missed.
Sticking to the historical fact closer, than mean less Hollywood, but both are more than worth.
Follow Ups:
....Monsieur Vincent. A biography of the French priest, St. Vincent de Paul.
It's a humbling and inspirational experience to see this story, so beautifully carried by Pierre Fresnay in a singularly compelling portrayal.
Though a winner of the 1947 Oscar for Foreign Language Film, I confess having never heard of it. One cannot see this tour de force in black and white without being profoundly affected by the story and the performance.
Recommended.
I got two copies in my basement.
