...and choosing Jackman rather then someone funny was not the best choice - noticed he wasn't there much.
But otherwise, the show and production were about average as Oscar telecasts go.
The acceptance speeches were't s bad a previous years with a couple of exceptions. Awardees, speaking for a group, thanking their children. And their wives. Or a long list.
The highlight of the show was Phillip Petit, the Man on a Wire, accepting for Best Documentary, showing a little sleight of hand and balancing the statue on his chin.
Overall, pretty predictible winners and a decent, if not memorable, show.
Bring back comedy next year.
Follow Ups:
I was surprised how MUCH more I liked the awards ceremony without an intrusive comedian. There was enough humour for me.
The emphasis was on the perfromers and the awards.
Fine with me.
Over sooner too.
Alluded to by Sean Penn and not mentioned otherwise.
I noticed the song and dance fiascos disappeared after a while which was good and then the proper numbers were put in... the one that had Beyonce and the "Indian" dancers... did all the drummers appear to be Japanese?
All it needed was Tonto...
Still a good time was had.
