This is a 4 hour long episode depiction of a gangster firm in London through the 60s.
It's feel for the era is precise and it sits alongside most crim-pics as Performance does to swinging London flicks.
The cast is spot on, the whole thing... well one review here said if you like Underbelly you should REALLY see this.
Each episode is told from the point of view of a different person drawn into the world of Harry Starks the central character.
Produced by the BBC it is taken from the novel of the same name by Jake Arnott.
A MUST SEE.

But 'The Long Firm' is much better than 'The Krays' IMO and takes it's place alongside 'TLGF' as a near perfect snapshot of UK gangsters and the eras they are set in.
I read a bit somewhere stating that it came down to Mark Strong and Jimmy Nail being neck and neck for the Harry Starks role.
Anyone who could play 'Spender' as well as Nail did could have pulled the Starks role off but of course now I could not imagine anyone doing it as well as Mark Strong.

It is indeed a very impressive production, hitting the right balance of the feeling of attraction and repulsion that these guys produced.
