Russell Crowe and Helen Mirren star in this adaptation of a BBC TV series and I wish no one had bothered.
Apparently the TV version is great but this is a flaccid piece of nonsense.
A senator investigating the privatisation of security and defence industries has a chief researcher (who he's bonking) who seem to know nothing about it whilst an investigative reporter is assisted by a writer who appears to know nothing about being a reporter.
The reporter is bonking the senator's wife but that's OK because it hasn't spoilt their friendship.... I left after an hour unable to stay awake or remotely interested in this piece of fluff.
The music is ludicrous too.
Arghhhhh, Crowe encounters a hitman who instead of taking him out in an empty corridor beats the left down stairs by somehow going down the outside of the building and then decides the smart move is to shoot Crowe in the carpark of the building he lives in in front of witnesses.
He manages to give Crowe a scraped knuckle... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

...I saw it last weekend.
I liked the part about the dying newspaper industry and the older reporter vs the young blogger. Seemed pretty realistic.
It's not bad as long as you can suspend disbelief at some of the inconsistancies.
Like why did Affleck beat up the PR guy and hire the hit man?
