Most films nowadays tend to have fight choreography which is right on the nail and more what would be used in a real situation, rather than the 'flowery' techniques which look very impressive but in reality don't work and are ineffective.
The Bourne films were a turning point for me, although even there we see fighters jumping up from techniques which would have rendered them immobilised - Bourne being the worst culprit.
Fight s have got to be a combination of realism and entertainment, but in reality most fights are ended after only a couple of good techniques when no gloves are worn (Rambo's escape in the police station scene for instance); wouldn't make for the most exciting fights though. :0)
