Why it was so snubbed I'll never know. It lit up Huston's career.
Great soundtrack and you have to see it several times to piece it all together. Apparently the bathtub scene was a deal-breaker for some critics. Being a batch I never thought twice about child porno laws but the did their lines separately and where digitally put together.

The third time was the charm for me. Liked it the first time, but it was better the second and third, and by the third I felt I understood it inside and out. I understood that there are several possibilities as far as what was going on, and that's the beauty of it.
Carriere co-wrote the screenplay, and this type of stuff is his strength, having co-written many films with Bunuel.

Huston was superb in this. Next thing I remember seeing him in was The Proposition, talk about a 180 in charactors. Kidman IS one of our most versatile actors. Heck, I thought she was excellent in The Invasion.
